Best Office 2008 Startup Time Improvement Tip Ever

For ages, Office 2008 for Mac has aggravated me. It takes 40 seconds for Excel to start on my 2.66GHz Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro with 4GB RAM.

Following this tip, I reduced that to about 4-6 seconds.

Verbose:

1. Launch Word
2. Go to Word > Preferences
3. Click on “General”
4. Un-check “WYSIWYG font and style menus”
5. Un-check “Show Project Gallery At Startup”
6. Quit Word
7. Re-open Word
